Mammoth Cave Horse Camp KY: The owners of this campground are amazingly helpful and have full facilities for campers and horse enthusiasts. The entire program is only a couple of years old and has a general store, picnic patio where they have meals, new bathhouses that are clean and set up for the rider's convenience plus a great barn and a riding obstacle course on site. You will also have special weekend entertainment. We were a last minute addition to the Labor Day weekend ride and they were able to squeeze us and the Hammonds in since we tether our Tennessee Walking Horses typically. The scheduled rides like Labor Day include breakfast and dinner with entertainment nightly and the bands are great
Mammoth Cave Kentucky is a little farther from the farm so we do not get there as often as I would like to but its worth the trip. Trails are diverse with lots of shade and creeks to cross so you can water your horses often while riding. We were able to take a picnic lunch and have it by a nice creek the day we rode all day. LeAnn and Doug Hammond enjoyed the ride as well. Doug took Charlene's other mount which is for sale JR's Covergirl and challenged us all as to who could lead the group going around trees and bushes to get in front. He did win once, however the second time I was in the perfect position where a large tree had been cut down and was able to keep him in the back for a minute or two. Covergirl had not been ridden since April as we had her off at the breeders for a short while trying to get her in foal and then she had a cut on her back leg that we wanted to heal. Vet has pronounced her completely sound but she does have a scar; however Doug will vouch for the glide ride and heart this mare has as we rode all weekend without any issues. LeAnn took Delight her blond mare and I have to say it was almost the perfect weekend.
